@folchstudio There is beauty in every single human being, no matter their color, gender or culture. It is easy to have a reaction to horrific violence, but it’s more challenging to make an ongoing effort to change our communities, have conversations about it, and look at ourselves. This is an @odiseomagazine Staff Pick: Troy Michie, Arroyo, 2015. Incorporating a wide range of materials – including found photographs, papier-mâché, and elements of clothing – Troy Michie’s works materialize the ways that historically marginalized communities are often alternately erased and fetishized, made invisible and hypervisible. The deconstruction of the bodies of stunning black male figures is used as a tool to explore and challenge the viewer's preconceptions. @odiseomagazine is an exploration of new ways of doing and seeing, offering a different vision on erotism, going beyond gender, seeking seduction through bodies and abstraction.
