Scenario: What if Ezekiel Lau became one of his generation’s next great freesurfers? There’s a precedent for elite surfers whose skill never translated to competition, but redefined their careers after hanging up the jersey. Rob, Shane and Dane come to mind. An ambitious list to be sure, but Zeke already has two things going for him: an identifiable one-syllable name (albeit abbreviated) and freakish world-class talent. Excluding some Hawaii events, Zeke eased off the competitive scene in 2025.
